Despite the already ‘huge’ dry orderbook we
see new orders been announced every single week… IMC ordered four 62,000 dwt
ultramaxes at oshima costing $36 mill apiece whereas COSCO agreed with chengxi
to build six kamsarmaxes costing $31,5 mill each and four 208,000 dwt
newcastlemaxes at SWS costing $58 mill each!
Newcastlemaxes were also ordered
by kumiai senpaku at Nantong Cosco (2 units) costing $60 mill each. China Cosco
holdings agreed with jiagnan changing to build five 14,500 teu containers
costing $124 mill eachw while K line went to imabari for five more 14,000 teu
containers, making 10 in total! Petronas ordered on more 150,000 cbm LNG
carrier Moss type in Hyundai making 5 ships in total and 3 pending options and
BW went to Daewoo for two 173,000 cbm LNG carriers with ME-GI (gas injection). Kawasaki won two orders
for 155,000 cbm MOSS type LNG carriers from mitsui and china peace exercised
two option in daewoo for VLGC’s making 6 in total costing $80 mill each.
Astomos ordered a 3rd VLGC in Mitsubishi while knutsen went to
Hyundai for two 157,000 dwt DP2 shuttle tankers costing $123 mill each for long
term charter to BG. Last but not least china merchants agreed to build 5
VLCC’s, dalian
will build three and SWS the other two!
Lets continue with the 2nd hand
dry transactions: Norwegian maritime opportunities paid $38 mill to acquire
enbloc the ‘emerald strait / endeavour strait’ both 56,000 cwt built 10 china
4x36 while ADS paid $18,4 mill for the ‘belmonte’ 75,000 dwt built 07 japan.
The ‘sea elegance’ 51,000 dwt built 02 japan 4x30 got $12,5 mill, the ‘nikol H’
24,000 dwt built 97 japan 3x30 got $4,5 mill and the ‘lady anthulla H’ 20,000
dwt built 99 japan 3x35 got $4,5 mill from turks. Navios paid $51 mill for the
‘berge mcclintock’ 180,000 dwt built 12 hanjin subic while ACT, India paid
$10,7 mill for the ‘kwela’ 32,000 dwt built 02 japan 4x30. The ‘carribean
frontier’ 28,000 dwt built 02 japan 4x30 got $10 mill while the ‘free jupiter’
47,000 dwt built 02 china got $12,3 mill with 7 years BB back at $5,325 daily.
On the tanker side we see increased
interest on crude carriers (especially aframaxes and suezmaxes) with firming
values and firming day rates but there are very few sellers out there. The
‘song lin wan’ 105,000 dwt built 02 japan coated got $19 mill while the ‘SC
sara’ 105,000 dwt built 01 japan got $17,2 mill. Navig8 paid $246 mill to
acquire enbloc 6 hyundai vinashin MR
resales all abt 50,000 dwt with 20 epoxy tanks and two stainless tanks. Last
but not least the ‘ST nikolai’ 47,000 dwt built 05 japan got $18 mill.
