There is a slight optimism in dry bulk and that has been reflected both in ship’s values and freights whereas the opposite is currently affecting the tankers! Unfortunately containers has been completely dormant and seeing 10 year old ships going for demolition is not an encouraging sign for future prospects!

As always lets start from the Newbuilding front. Easter pacific agreed with hanjin subic to build two option two 114,000 dwt afras costing $42,5 mill each while JX ocean went to Mitsubishi for one VLGC. Wisdom chose imabari for two 63,000 dwt ultramaxes with 2019 deliveries while gaslog returned to Samsung for one option one LNG carrier costing $190 mill for mid 19 delivery with new mark V containment! Euronav went to Hyundai for two ice 1c suezmaxes for long TC to Valero costing $56 mill each while odfjell went to hudong for four 49,000 dwt stainless chem. tankers!

Lets continue with the 2^nd hand dry transcactions. The ‘ER bayern / ER Bavaria / ER borneo’ all 180,000 dwt built 10 korea got sold for $21 mill each, two to synergy and one to capital while kassain paid $11, 3 mill for the ‘voge master’ 174,000 dwt built 06 china. The ‘emma schulte’ 115,000 dwt built 12 china got $12,6 mill while the ‘tango sea / tonic sea / tonda sea / tana sea’ all 93,000 dwt built 11/11/11/12 china fetched $38 mill enbloc. The ‘darya shree’ 74,000 dwt built 04 china got $5,2 mill, the ‘western singapore’ 52,000 dwt built 03 philippines 4x30 achieved $4,6 mill and the ‘hanjin Liverpool / hanjin isabel’ 36,000 dwt both built 12 vietnam 4x30 got $8,25 mill each. Tufton paid $28, 5 mill to aquire enbloc the ‘jin ming / jin han both 61,000 dwt built 10/11 4x30 japan,  and also spent another $20 mill to buy enbloc the ‘lisa J / steven C’ both 34,000 dwt built 10/09 korea 4x35. Taylor paid $7,7 mill for the ‘karine bulker’ 32,000 dwt built 08 japan 4x30 whereas the ‘fleet phoenix’ 55,000 dwt built 06 japan 4x30 got $8,8 mill. BW spent $10,5 mill to buy the ‘nord navigator’ 82,000 dwt built 08 japan, fundador agreed to pay $12,8 mill for the ‘jin chao’ 75,000 dwt built 11 japan while the ‘garv prem’ 75,000 dwt built 06 china for only $4 mill at auction! The ‘bao fortune’ 63,000 dwt resale ex yard china jan 17 4x30 got $18,1 mill, the ‘ocean paradise’ 58,000 dwt built 07 philippines 4x30 got $9,3 mill and the ‘vereina’ 27,000 dwt built 08 brazil 4x30 got $4,8 mill.

Lets finish off with the wet sales. The ‘lion ciry river’ 105,000 dwt built 07 japan got $21 from avin, the ‘bls liwa / bls ruwais’ both 47,000 dwt built 08 korea got $38 mill enbloc. Tufton paid $20,5 mill for the ‘diamond orchid’ 20,000 dwt built 08 japan stainless while celcius paid $45 mill to buy enbloc the ‘mid nature / mid fortune’ both 20,000 dwt built japan 11/09 stainelss with 3 years TC to Nordic.  The ‘ardmore centurion’ 30,000 dwt built 05 korea epoxy got $16 mill, the ‘nord observer’ 47,000 dwt built 07 japan pumproom coated got $14,5 mill and the ‘torea’ 37,000 dwt built 04 korea coated got $13 mill. last but not least navig8 sold the ‘navig8 universe / navig8 constellation’ both 45,000 dwt built 13 korea imo II for $35 mill each with 12 years BB to ocean yield and also sold the ‘navig8 spark / navig8 stellar’ both 25,000 dwt built 16 japan stainless for $37 mill each with 11 years BB.
