The markets continue to be depressing in general except for tankers! Looking at the Newbuildings placed over the last 30 days Maersk chose DSME for four option seven 20,000 teu containers costing $147 mill each while SWS won orders from the pappas-oaktree JV for four 11,000 teu containers with long term charters to MSC. Economou agreed with yangzijiang to convert two newcastlemaxes to two 11,000 teu containers costing $93 mill apiece while K line with mitsui and imabari have ordered one 178,000 cbm LNG carrier from imabari yard. ordered two LNG ships from a JV co of Mitsubishi and imabari. Maran went back to its favourite yard DSME for two VLCC’s (now 6 in total) while pantheon went to Hyundai for two VLCC’s as well costing $96 mill each. Sun went to the same yard for one LR1 tanker costing $45 mill while frontline went to new times for two LR2’s costing $49 mill each and contracted two suezmaxes as well in the same yard earlier in the year for $60 mill each. Reederi nord agreed with smamsung to build two LR2’s costing $57 mill each while china shipping tanker co ordered four similar ships in dalian for $52 mill per ship!

Lets continue with the used tanker sales. The ‘abram schulte’ 72,000 dwt built 04 korea coated got $23 mill while the ‘E ships falcon’ 51,000 dwt built 10 korea epoxy got $25,5 mill. Scorpio paid $177,5 mill to acquire enbloc three LR2 resales two from sungdong and one from daehan while the ‘flagship iris’ 51,000 dwt built 12 korea epoxy got $31 mill. The ‘universal crown / universal queen’ both 310,000 dwt built 05 korea got $49 mill each, the ‘kaspar schulte’ 72,000 dwt built 04 korea epoxy fetched $21 mill and the ‘iver expert’ 45,000 dwt built 97 korea epoxy got $8,5 mill.

Lets finish off with the dry transactions. The ‘blue everest’ 180,000 dwt built 10 daehan got $27 mill, nomikos paid $14 mill for the ‘cmb jialing’ 55,000 dwt built 10 china 4x30 while the ‘coposa’ 46,000 dwt built 02 japan 4x30 got $7 mill. Winning paid $18,5 mill for the ‘jiang jun shan’ 176,000 dwt built 06 japan, the ‘GH prosperity’ 70,000 dwt built 97 japan got $3,7 mill and the ‘birch 5’ 26,000 dwt built 97 china 4x25 got $2,6 mill. The ‘medi singapore’ 75,000 dwt built 06 japan got $12,6 mill, the ‘million trader’ 76,000 dwt built 04 japan got $9,3 mill and the ‘rose atlantic’ 75,000 dwt built 05 japan got $11 mill. The ‘hudson trader II’ 58,000 dwt built 09 china 4x30 got $14,2 mill, the ‘huarmey queen’ 46,000 dwt built 06 japan 4x30 got $8,6 mill and the ‘C prosperity 176,000 dwt built 11 china got $24,2 mill.
