Summer is approaching fast and Posidonia is around the corner! Mood will be much better than two years ago as dry (the main greek segment) has been doing much better lately but beware of the ever growing order book, 200 kamsarmaxes and 50 VLOC’s most delivering in the next 8-10 months from now is no joke!

Lets begin from the newbuildings front. Torm went to GSI for three MR’s costing $93 mill enbloc while DSD ordered one similar ship at Hyundai vinashin. KOTC ordered four MR’s too at Hyundai mipo costing $42 mill too (excessive specs).  Solvang ordered a VLGC at Hyundai while knutsen agreed to build a 180,000 cbm LNG ship at the same yard. Samsung won one LNG order from Cardiff while marubeni ordered one LNG ship too as the same yard! On the dry side craig shipping is ordering a series of ultramax ships in wuhu china while tianyuan is proceeding with an order for $380 mill worth of mini capes at CSIC. Klaveness ordered four combination carriers at yangzijiang while the same yard was selected by mitsui for two option two kamsarmaxes! Lavinia added one more kamsarmax at penglai now making four in total while yangzijiang won an order for one option one kamsarmaxes from Hadley shipping costing $26,5 mill apiece.

Lets continue with the second hand dry transactions. transmed paid $23 mill for the ‘vogerunner’ 176,000 dwt built 08 japan, the ‘madeleine’ 76,000 dwt built 06 japan got $14,25 mill and the ‘double prosperity’ 76,000 dwt built 05 japan got $12,6 mill. Kassian paid $17,3 mill for the ‘oriental wise’ 81,000 dwt built 11 china, omicron paid $12,6 mill for the ‘dr bravo’ 76,000 dwt built 05 japan while the ‘azurit’ 56,000 dwt built 12 china 4x35 got $12,5 mill. the ‘aquarius ocean’ 53,000 dwt built 05 japan 4x31 got high $10’s, the ‘western baltic’ 38,000 dwt built 15 china 4x30 got $16 mill and the ‘nordic riga’ 35,000 dwt built 10 china 4x30,5 got $9,5 mill fron NRP oslo. Lets finish off with the used tanker sales. embirikos paid $35 mill for the ‘spyros’ 320,000 dwt built 07 korea while norden paid $19 mill for each of the following “marianne kirk / anja kirk’ both 50,000 dwt built 09 korea .The ‘zirku’ 105,000 dwt built 03 korea got $10,5 mill from ZPMC basis DD due while the ‘star express’ 45,000 dwt built 05 japan non imo got $11,4 mill . Shandong paid $16,5 mill for each of the following product tankers, the ‘silver express / high enterprize’ both 47,000 dwt built 09 japan non imo while the ‘sipea’ 37,000 dwt built 07 korea got $12,5 mill. the ‘BM breeze’ 105,000 dwt built 08 japan sold for $17,5 mill to petrovietnam
