Data analysis company that cuts the fuel bill of ships
We4Sea,
a maritime technology company focused on increasing the fuel efficiency of
seagoing ships, has joined the Green Award Foundation as an Incentive Provider.
With the cooperation, We4Sea wants to express their support in rewarding high
environmental standards in shipping, and to make sustainable ship operation
economically more attractive.
We4Sea and Green Award Foundation are pleased to
announce that We4Sea will reward Green Award certified ships with a discount of
20%. This considerable discount applies to a range of We4Sea products and
services for sea-going ships. The cooperation between the two companies was announced
today at the heart of maritime shipping: The Europort exhibition in Rotterdam, the
Netherlands.
Green
Award certificate implies that a ship’s performance is of such high standards
of safety and quality that the ship qualifies for the Green Award requirements.
Ships certified by Green Award are sustainable, environmentally-friendly and constantly
looking for ways to improve their carbon footprint. These are qualities that
are in line with We4Sea principles.
We4Sea runs
a cloud platform that offers advanced solutions to optimize the performance and
reduce fuel consumption and emissions of seagoing ships. We4Sea collects vast
amounts of operational data of a ship, such as position, speed, heading and
engine data. This data is sent to shore, where it is enriched with other data
sources, such as weather conditions, wave heights, currents and wind. Using Digital Twin technology, the proprietary
algorithms and energy models of We4Sea transform this big data pool into actionable
management information on how to optimize the use and configuration of a ship.
In pilot
projects, We4Sea has proven that using data analysis can substantially cut fuel
costs, up to 20%. Using the technology is easy, as it requires no additional
hardware on board of the ship and monitoring can start without a port visit.
The
discounts will be valid on all We4Sea monitoring modules, including EU-MRV
monitoring and reporting. Besides,
We4Sea offers a free-of-charge trial for a 2 months monitoring period for all
Green Award certified ships, up to 2 ships per Certificate Holder.
Jan Fransen, Executive Director of the Green Award
Foundation and We4Sea’s CEO Mr. Dan Veen and CTO Michiel Katgert met at
Europort in Rotterdam to affirm their cooperation. As of today, We4Sea is
officially becoming a Green Award
incentive provider.
– Dan
Veen, CEO of We4Sea:
"We are very happy to cooperate with the Green Award Foundation. We
share the vision of Green Award to promote and award sustainable shipping. It supports
our mission to improve the fuel efficiency of ships significantly."
– Jan Fransen, Executive Director of the Green
Award Foundation:
‘We are happy to welcome We4Sea
to the Green Award scheme and see many synergies. Innovative technologies
become a greater reality for the maritime industry. Data analyses enable reduced fuel consumption, a choice of the most
suitable fuel-efficient model and predictive maintenance, what results in great benefits for the
environment and, thus, the people. “
