A steady pace of orders are getting signed on the dry bulk side

A steady pace of orders are getting signed on the dry bulk side worrying many owners abt the medium term whereas tanker values are sinking even deeper! Lets begin from the new orders front. Kamsarmaxes are the trend of the quarter and thus we have seen helicon taking two resales from tsuneishi zoushan, Aegean signing for four option four such ships with cosco zhoushan, and more orders signed by evalend, Japanese owners and others reaching a total orderbook of close to 150 ships!
VALE through Korean and Chinese institutions has ordered 20 valemaxes of 400,000 dwt each slapping the cape market right in the face! Fednav went to oshima for six 35,000 dwt lakers while Taiwan navigation chose the same yard for two 62,000 dwt ultramaxes. Anangel decided to go to SWS for two option two newcastlemaxes costing $47 mill each. NYK ordered three VLCC’s, two in JMU and one in namura while DSD went to Hyundai vinashin for four 50,000 dwt products. SCF ordered 5 LNG fueled ice 1A aframaxes in Zvezda in Russia. MSC agreed with DSME to build 5 option 6 22,000 teu mega containers costing $165 mill each while CMA GCM agreed to build 9 such ships with CSSC with high local finance! Eastern pacific  agreed with Hyundai to build four option two 14,000 teu containers for long charter to an unknown counterparty.

Lets move on with the dry second hand transactions. H line paid $30 mill for the ‘true frontier’ 180,000 dwt built 10 korea and $30,6 mill for the ‘C discovery’ 180,000 dwt built 10 korea, the ‘ocean sakura’ 76,000 dwt built 07 japan got $14 mill and the ‘nord leader’ 55,000 dwt built 07 japan 4x30 fetched $12 mill. Atlas paid $14,7 mill for the ‘navios altair’ 83,000 dwt built 06 japan, the ‘CS Soraya 55,000 dwt built 10 china 4x30 got $10,4 milland the ‘poseidon SW’ 55,000 dwt built 08 japan 4x30 achieved $13 mill. unisea spent $14,6 mill to buy the ‘nord glory’ 55,000 dwt built 10 japan 4x30 while a resale ex avic 37,000 dwt 4x30 got $17 mill. Alassia paid $26,5 mill for the ‘rugia’ 176,000 dwt built 11 china with tc till march 18 at $12,5k daily, songa paid $20,5 mill for the ‘atlantic moon’ 82,000 dwt built 12 japan, JP morgan paid $25 mill for the ‘united liberty’ 81,000 dwt built 15 japan and the ‘bulk monaco’ 76,000 dwt built 08 japan got $14 mill.  Thoresen paid $14 mill for the ‘songa marlin’ 58,000 dwt built 09 china 4x30, meghna paid $12 mill for the ‘santa phoenix’ 56,000 dwt built 06 japan 4x30 and balthellas paid $14 mill for the ‘ocean antwerp’ 76,000 dwt built 07 japan. BW dry spent $30 mill to buy enbloc the ‘carouge / chambesy’ both 177,000 dwt japan built 03/04 respectively while the ‘mona frontier’ 172,000 dwt built 01 japan got $12,8 mill. Scoprio agreed to acquire from golden ocean 6 chengxi ultramaxes built 17/17/16/15/15/15 4x30 for $143 mill enbloc  while the ‘ocean morning’ 57,000 dwt built 15 japan 4x35 achieved $22 mill! the ‘ocean platinum’ 37,000 dwt built 12 korea 4x30 got $12 mill and the ‘king beans’ 28,000 dwt built 10 japan 4x30,5 achieved $9 mill.

Lets finish off with the tanker sales. Bocom financial leasing paid $138 mill to acquire enbloc the ‘sti ruby / onyx / topaz / garnet / amber’ all 50,000 dwt built 12 korea with 7 years BB back each at $9k daily. The ‘Neptune voyager’ 105,000 dwt built 03 korea got $9,8 mill from spring marine while east med paid $25,5 mill for the ‘isuzugawa’ 300,000 dwt built 04 japan. IMS paid $7,5 mill for the ‘FD sea wish’ 40,000 dwt built 02 korea.
