Drybulk owners are finally smiling

Drybulk owners are finally smiling, especially the ones with capsizes! Lets hope that this unexpected rise will last…



As always lets begin from the new orders front. Yangzijiang have won 12 VLOC bulkers newbuidlings, half from Economou and half from oldendorff costing $55 each while star bulkers exercised options for two newcastlemaxes at SWS and ordered a signle such ship in Nantong cosco!
Avic agreed with taizhou kouan to build four 28,000 dwt bulkers, costing abt $20 mill each, to be fixed on long TC to ning hang shipping while parakou in JV with CSSC shipping exercised four options for 64,000 dwt ultramaxes at chengxi. Klaveness went to Jiangsu yangzijiang for two 82,000 dwt kamsarmaxes costing $27,5 mill apiece and canfornav added two more self discharging 36,000 dwt handies at Zhejiang yangfan making six in total! Grieg star declared options for two more 63,500 dwt bulkers in dayang costing $26 mill each while wah kwong agreed with chengxi to build four more 63,500 dwt supramaxes costing $25 mill each and now they have 8 such ships on order! CIMC agreed with new times to build two more 8,800 teu containers for $85 mill each and they now have fourteen such ships on order split between new times and dalian!!!
Chandris went to Daewoo for two LR2’s costing $51 mill each while breakwater capital went to sungdong for four option two MR’s  costing $35  mill each. Eletson agreed with Hyundai mipo to build five 12,000 cbm ethylene carriers costing $37 mill each while fukuoka won orders from stream tankers for two option three 20,000 dwt stainless tankers costing $33 mill each. Southwest maritime agreed with jiagnan to build two VLGC’s while seacor ordered two 50,000 dwt dual fuel MR’s in nassco USA .GSI won orders from denmark tankers for three MR’s and now they have a total of 6 such ships at that yard while capital exercised options for MR’s in Samsung Ningbo making 6 in total!



Lets continue with the 2nd hand dry sales. The ‘ocean lord’ 82,000 dwt built 05 japan got $17,5 mill, the ‘belgrano’ 76,000 dwt built 04 japan got $17 mill and sunbeam paid $12,5 mill for the ‘los vilos’ 46,000 dwt built 2000 japan 4x30. Golden ocean in JV with glencore bought the ‘stx noble and stx azalea’ for $55 mill enbloc,the former is a 180,000 dwt cape built 2010 in korea while the latter is a 30,000 dwt handy built 2010 china. Moundreas spent $13,5 mill for the ‘chrismir’ 160,000 dwt built 97 korea while the ‘c journey’ 73,000 dwt built 95 korea got $7,5 mill. Greeks paid $110 mill enbloc to acquire the ‘cape challenger / supra challenger and supra challenger II) the first is a 180,000 dwt cape built 13 injapan while the other two ships are 2012 japan built supramaxes with 4x30 cranes. Diana spent $53 mill for the ‘jk pioneer’ 180,000 dwt built 13 korea while W marine acquired the ‘cash’ 81,000 dwt built 13 korea from geden for $30 mill. The ‘darya shakti’ 56,000 dwt built 04 japan 4x30 got $18,5 mill while the ‘CB paradise’ 46,000 dwt built 03 japan 4x30 got $15,5 mill. The ‘maritime anita’ 76,000 dwt built 04 japan got $16,7 mill while a hantong 57,000 dwt 4x30 resale fetched $23 mill. The ‘namrun’ 55,000 dwt built 07 china 4x30 got $20,5 mill and the ‘pacific eternity’ 46,000 dwt built 04 japan 4x30 got sold for $16 mill.



Lets finish off with the tanker transactions. Rumours are flying that the resurrected Peter G has bought the 15 strong VLCC fleet of Maersk for $1 billion!!! The ‘hellespont tatina’ 105,000 dwt built 99 japan got $9,5 mill while sinokor paid $11,5 mill for the ‘kwk esteem’ 105,000 dwt built 2000 korea. The ‘pacific polaris’ 48,000 dwt built 04 japan non imo got $17 mill while marmaras has on subs the ‘almi galaxy / almi globe’ both 157,000 dwt built 12 korea for $104 mill enbloc. Osas paid $55,5 mill for the ‘almi mariner’ 157,000 dwt built 13 korea and AMCI Poseidon spent $173 mill to acquire the top ships fleet of 5 MR’s built 09 korea and one 51,000 dwt bulker built china in 2002. Pappas paid $21 mill for the ‘twinkle express’ 45,000 dwt built 06 japan non imo and eastern pacific paid $21 mill for the ‘forward fortune’ 115,000 dwt built 05 japan. East med paid $20 mill for the ‘stavanger bay’ 105,000 dwt built 04 japan and $33 mill for the ‘stavanger bell’ 105,000 dwt built 10 japan. Last but not least the ‘eagle vienna’ 307,000 dwt built 04 korea was sold for $40 mill to greeks.
