It's going to be a ‘hot’ winter

I hope that everyone had an enjoyable summer coz its going to be a ‘hot’ winter too! Newbuildings continue to be placed especially on dry and products, and owners are seeing signs of recovery on the capesize front! At last…



As always lets start from with the new contracts.
China merhants ordered four more VLCC’s two in SWS and two in dalian so now they have 14 VLCC’s in total on order!!! Target marine went to sungdong for two option one 50,000 dwt products costing $34 mill apiece and four option two LR2’s costing region $48 mill each! Navig8 went to the same yard also for four option four LR2’s! Prime in JV with perella declared two options for LR2’s in Daewoo costing $47 mill each and Ardmore went to fukuoka for four 25,000 dwt imo II chems costing $30 mill each (they also have six 50k products in SPP and two 37k imo II chems in Hyundai mipo!). Gaslog returned to Samsung for two more 174,000 cbm LNG’s for long charter to BG and they secured six options while BW gas went to Hyundai for four 84,000 cbm option two VLGC’s ! Scorpio also chose to enter the VLGC segment with with four such ships, one in Daewoo and three in Hyundai samho, each costing $75 mill, they have seven option to be declared and currently their total orderbook on the VLGC segment is 9 ships! Hong kong asset mngt ordered six 18,000 teu mega containers in Daewoo costing region $140 mill each for long charter to MSC while UASC went to Hyundai for five 18,000 teu and five 14,000 teu mega containers for a total cost of $1,4 billion!!! Polish steamship agreed with yangfan to build four 40,000 dwt bulkers costing $23 mill each while frontmarine agreed with new times to build four option four 64,000 dwt bulkers. Uni-asia went to tsuneishi cebu for two 58,000 dwt bulkers  while canfornav spent $50 mill for two 64,000 dwt bulkers out of Zhejiang (also two options are attached). Yangfan also won business from damico for four 64,000 dwt bulkers plus another two 39,000 dwt ships (they have now a total of 13 ships at that yard!) while kalimanopoulos agreed with yangzijiang to build two more kamsarmaxes for abt $26 mill (he has now 5 such ships on order). Visentini and globeco exercised their options in avic weihai so their total order is now six 37,000 dwt bulkers.


Lets continue with the 2nd hand dry sales. Vista paid $16,5 mill for the ‘tai fu star’ 178,000 dwt built 98 korea while thenamaris snapped the ‘danann island’ 75,000 dwt built 06 japan paying $18,75 mill. Indians paid $10 mill enbloc for the ‘ID red sea / pioneer pacific’ both 70,000 dwt built 94 china and the ‘bulk canada’ 180,000 dwt built 12 philipinnes got $41 mill from Singaporeans! Golden union paid $37 mill for the ‘lilac’ 180,000 dwt built 09 korea and moundreas bought the ‘csk enterprise’ 168,000 dwt built 97 korea for 11,2 mill. The ‘ocean alliance’ 52,000 dwt built 04 japan 4x30 fetched $16,3 mill while the ‘pacific confidence / shining star’ both 180,000 dwt built 04 japan were both bought by oceanbulk for $50 mill enbloc! Jiangsu spent $12,3 mill to acquire the ‘NSS bonanza’ 170,000 dwt built 96 japan while swiss marine paid $44 mill to acquire enbloc two kamsarmax resales ex Jiangsu easterm with prompt deliveries. The ‘lowlands ghent’ 76,000 dwt built 04 japan got $16,8 mill, the ‘spring progress’ 50,000 dwt built 03 japan  4x30 got $15 mill and oceanbulk bought the ‘tokiwa glory’ 55,000 dwt built 06 japan 4x30 for $19 mill. The ‘mimosa’ 53,000 dwt built 07 japan 4x30 got $18 mill, the ‘chang pyung / jin hyang’ both 32,000 dwt built 2010 china 4x30 got $31 mill enbloc while the ‘maple crystal’ 32,000 dwt built 12 china 4x30 got $18,4 mill from norsul. Pacific basin spent $48 mill to acquire enbloc the ‘pos leader/pos jade / pos knight’ all 31,000 dwt built 06 japan 4x30 while the ‘UBC Bremen / UBC baton rouge /  UBC boston’ all 24,000 dwt built 98/98/97 japan 4x30 got $20 mill enbloc.



Lets finish off with the used wet transactions. Nathalin paid $20 mill for the ‘takasago maru’ 280,000 dwt built 99 japan while vitol spent $9,1 mill on the ‘seaservice’ 107,000 dwt built 98 japan. Gesco paid $20 mill for the ‘energy power’ 51,000 dwt built 05 korea and ridgebury paid $145 mill to acquire enbloc the ‘yasa marmaris / yasa ceyhan / yasa seyhan / yasa bodrum’ all 50,000 dwt built 09 korea. Ancora paid $13,8 mill for the ‘kolka’ 37,000 dwt built 03 korea while the ‘hellespont providence’ 73,000 dwt built 07 china coated got $24 mill. Breakwater capital spent $42 mill to acquire enbloc the ‘st Gabriel / st michaelis’ both 51,000 dwt built 06 korea while ridgebury paid $40 mill enbloc to acquire enbloc the ‘challenge pioneer / challenge paradise’ both 45,000 dwt built 07 japan. Last but not least the ‘peace china /grand china’ both 300,000 sqt built 2011/2010 china respectively are committed for $52 mill each  while the stainless ‘bow plata’ 20,000 dwt built 06 got $21 mill.
