2013 is ending and most of the shipping
segments are indeed ending with a good note, especially gas and VLCC’s!
Ordering of newbuilds has continued in a formidable pace!
Knightsbridge has agreed with daehan to
build two capes costing $53 mill apiece while onomichi has won an order from
shih wei navigation for one more ultramax costing $29 mill making five in total
for this owner! Daewoo mangalia has won an order from scorpio for three capes
costing $54 mill each while cara
shipping agreed with Qingdao beihai to build two option two 250,000 dwt ore
carriers (this owner is building two capes as well at the same yard).
China navigation ordered four more 39,000 dwt
handies at Zhejiang
ouhua making 8 in total and it has another 16 handies on order at chengxi
costing $23 mill each! Oldendorff has agreed with qingshan to build twelve
ultramaxes for about $25 mill each while the same yard took an additional order
from atlantska plovidba for a 38,000 dwt handy making three in total for this
owner. Nantong cosco received an order from winning for two 210,000 dwt
newcastlemaxes costing abt $58 mill while cosco agreed with Guangzhou Huangpu
to build four 36,000 dwt MPP’s costing $40 mill each.
Navig8 has declared two more LR2’s at
longxue making a total of 8 LR2’s on order there and they also have another 10
LR2’s on order at sungdong!!! Latsis agreed with Hyundai mipo to build 5 mr’s
costing $37 mill each and they also agreed with Hyundai to build two option two
VLGC’s costing $75 mill each. Hyundai also won VLCC orders, both navig8 and DHT
ordered two opt two ships at abt $93 mill apiece and the former also ordered another 4 VLCC’s
in SWS for $92 mill. Scorpio went to Daewoo for 4 VLCC’s costing $93 mill each
while Teekay agreed with the same yard to build a single LNG for $200 mill,
this is the third LNG ordered by TK at that yard. Bergesen exercised two
options for VLGC’s at Hyundai making 6 VLGC’s in total for this owner at
Hyundai. Navig8-oaktree JV exercised 6 options for 37,000 dwt chem. tankers at
Hyundai mipo costing $35 mill each. Korea marine transport ordered a 5400 teu
container at hanjin subic for $48 mill after just buying a resale from Bernard
Schulte while Samsung got orders for seven 9200 teu containers, five belong to
bank of communications and two to mingsheng leasing for long term charter to
CMA CGM, each costs $85 mill1
Lets continue with the secondhand dry
sales. The ‘perly’ 77,000 dwt built 02 japan got $14 mill while the ‘supra
challenger 1 /supra challenger 2’ both 61,000 wt built 12/13 respectively,
japan 4x30 got $60 mill enbloc from star bulkers. The ‘amorita’ 46,000 dwt
built 99 japan 4x30 got $12 mill while the ‘nesrin akosy’ same size and yard
built 97 got $9,5 mill. Germans paid
$21,5 mill for a 57,000 dwt resale ex jiangdong 4x30, the ‘IVS kaito’ 32,000
dwt built 04 japan 4x30 got $15 mill while the ‘timothy R’ 32,000 dwt built 09
jinse 4x30 fetched $18,5 mill. Chinese bought the ‘hokuriku maru’ 95,000 dwt
built 95 japan for $9,3 mill, the ‘carol’ 75,000 dwt built 99 japan got $14
mill from Shelton and the ‘boron navigator’ 50,000 dwt built 01 japan 4x30 got
$15,5 mill from polforce.
The ‘venus ocean’ 33,000 dwt built 2012
japan 4x30 got $22,1 mill while the ‘little manatee’ 38,000 dwt built 2012
japan 4x30 got $23,4 mill.
Lets finalize our analysis with the wet
transactions. Capital paid $88,8 mill for the ‘shanghai spirit’ 320,000 dwt to
be delivered from SWS april 14 while the ‘antea’ 40,000 dwt built 02 korea
epoxy got $15,2 mill. The ‘shinyo navigator’ 300,000 dwt built 96 double
fetched $22 mill for conversion while the ‘milleura’ 40,000 dwt built 03 korea,
epoxy got $15,5 mill. Last but not least Ridgebury paid $35 mill for the ‘rio
genoa’ 160,000 dwt built 07 japan.
